The average person takes about 21,600 breaths per day, using about 88 pounds of oxygen to do so.  Our brain uses fully 25 percent of all the oxygen we take in.

Did you know that your right lung has three separate compartments, while your left lung has only two?

In the womb, you have three lobes in your left and your right lungs.

As you continue to develop, you lose the middle lobe on your left side, which allows space to be made for your heart.

The left lung has evidence of this disappeared middle lobe, called the lingual.  It’s a tail-like structure off the bottom of your superior (or front) lobe.  The right lung usually has more oxygen (air) because of it’s overall larger size.
