Pastor Kevin Burk was raised in the Adventist Church, though he left at age 18 due to a combination of adolescent rebellion and concerns about hypocrisy in the church. After spending the next three years searching for something better, he came up empty and began the journey back to faith in God. His search initially led him to some churches that were very charismatic in their approach to ministry. While the worship services were extremely dynamic and the fellowship very inviting, he found that their explanations of Biblical doctrine were lacking in logical continuity. Over the years, Kevin’s study of the Word of God brought him back to the church he had grown up in. Much to his surprise, God subsequently called him to serve in pastoral ministry. Initially resisting God’s call, it never left his mind. He finally began serving in various forms of ministry in 1991. His primary training came from Pastor Ron Halverson prior to going to the Arise Institute in 2003. Pastor Kevin is currently serving the Winchester, Kentucky Church, and is our intermittent pastor, with us on the third Sabbath each month. He and his wifeLynne have five children and seven grandchildren between them. They live on a homestead on the side of Pine Mountain in Southeastern Kentucky. Kevin enjoys time with friends and family, hiking, camping, photography, and music.
