Members of our congregation support a booth each year at the Claiborne County Fair.

In addition to answering questions and evangelizing (when asked), we provide free tracts, pamphlets, health-related materials, and books.
In addition to answering questions and evangelizing (when asked), we provide free tracts, pamphlets, health-related materials, and books.

Our aim is threefold:  Be a strong presence in the community, make new friends, and — of course — share God’s love.

We try not to use a club-over-the-head form of evangelism, but instead to chat, make reading recommendations, and simply get to know folks.  A few examples:  we take great pains to thank the firefighters, police, and sheriff’s deputies for their service, offer them water, and chat with them.  As you can see in the photo, the water isn’t a grab-and-go bottle; rather it’s a little dispenser strategically placed to get a conversation started.

Our friends Shawn and Megan Hoffmann, with the Virtual Reality Bible Museum, join us each year from North Dakota with exciting and engaging virtual realities that captivate parents and children alike.

For our part, we were able to distribute almost 500 books, magazines, pamphlets, and coloring books.  Not a bad return for our investment!  Saturday, September 2nd, the last day of the fair, we had a special treat.  Jonny Sellers, a talented young man in our congregation, brought his banjo and spent the afternoon serenading the attendees.

Ours is a fairly small, but committed church.  We believe in Sola Scriptura (only the bible) for our doctrine, we believe in the three angels’ messages, and we believe that we are set apart as a portion of the remnant to serve God in the end times.  How amazing is it that we’re able to use a county fair to help do all of that?
